Techniques

The Integrative Muscle Physiology Lab utilizes techniques appropriate for pre-clinical, translational, and clinical research.

Assays range from biochemical analysis to biomechanical studies of individual cells, muscle fibers, and isolated hearts, to in vivo studies.  Here’s a (not comprehensive) list of some of the techniques we use:

  • SDS-PAGE
  • SDS-VAGE (for titin)
  • Western Blotting
  • PCR Genotyping
  • qRT-PCR
  • Histology
  • Cardiomyocyte Mechanics
  • Muscle Fiber Mechanics
  • Isolated Heart Mechanics
  • Cardiac Catherization
  • Echocardiography/General Ultrasound
  • Feed-back Control (using SLControl)
  • Computational Modeling (using Myosim)
